Yes, but I'm a little concerned.  Should it really be so?  What about
guile-1.8; isn't it supposed to use gnutls module as well?

As far as I can see there is no core-updates branch currently:
<http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/guix.git/refs/>.

The patch is attached, so (if it looks good to you) should I push it to
master or create "core-updates" branch?
