You're free to make it work that way :-). I tried to make it so that it would only need to look at the beginning of each file, in order to save time. Maybe that's a stupid optimization. :-)

Otherwise, it's not clear whether this is Free Software or not.Of course it is. I don't see so big deal with "put it everywhere" license texts as far as I know the license is free. It's even against programmer's logic because data should be only in one place ;) Anyway, I try to remember project's copyright rule more carefully in future.
Uh, but isn't the point that you can get into trouble if you simply assume that a file is under a Free license, if it doesn't say so? I thought this was why we had the boilerplates :-)
