${var-gawk -f "$base"/some.gawk} - in interactive broken quoting

i had while coding my thingy an issue at the end, where i sourced it
instead of bash, then it errors out at there, some nowork
this is for some reason not respecting tye detailed quoting inside

hmm test case i dunno
and else ill have to post the script also from prrvious state where its
bugged, ..

is this some simple known issue ?
