Too many threads error

I have started getting this error message in the /var/adm/messages

file on one of my of me cfengine servers:

Feb 14 08:45:23 hqdistrib cfd[3442]: Rereading config files /etc/.cfengine/inputs/cfd.conf..
Feb 14 08:45:23 hqdistrib cfd[3442]: Multithreaded version
Feb 14 08:51:51 hqdistrib cfd[3442]: Too many threads
Feb 14 08:53:47 hqdistrib last message repeated 5 times
Feb 14 08:53:47 hqdistrib cfd[3442]: Seem to be paralyzed. Committing apoptosis...
Feb 14 08:53:47 hqdistrib cfd[3442]: Exit -- (waiting for threads), pid = 3442

'cfd' on the server is dies. The client opens a new log file of zero length.

I have recently added many more clients of this server (about 80 total).

Actions I have taken so far are to increase MaxConnections to the maximum

limit of 100, and increasing the SplayTime.Am I heading in the right direction?

Is this server simply overloaded and it's time to distribute the load?
