cfservd 2.0.1 dies when contacted by and old cfengine client

We have switched our cfengine infrastructure (~250 solaris clients)
from v1.6.x to
2.0.1.

It appears that if an host running 1.6.x contacts our main cfservd
server, it causes
the later to die (no messages of any sort in our log).

I was wondering if someone experienced this behavior ?
