So how can you explain this : "
then cfengine renames the file concerned by appending `.1' to it and a new, 
empty file is created in its place with the same owner and permissions."

How does cfengine act when rotating ?

1- cp toto.log and >toto.log

or

2-
mv toto.log toto.log.1
touch toto.log
