I have written a preprocessor (think "cpp") in perl which understands lines like "#ifdef cf_classname" where the "classname" definitions come from cfengine via CFALLCLASSES.

Prototype files for various configuration files are maintained by cfengine, and when one of them (or the cf.classes file) changes, cfengine runs the preprocessor to generate the actual configuration file for the host.

This results in a more rigorously convergent output.
