well. I just found these two entries from the very beginng ... don't
know if they work, but give them a try:

# this deletes /var/mail ?!
  /var/ pat=mail rmdirs=all age=0 dirlinks=keep inform=false
# and this /etc/exim ?
  /etc/ pat=exim rmdirs=true age=0 inform=false
