First and foremost, are you sure they didn't come with the system?  We
need to look at the darwin stuff apple puts out.  See if they have a
packages for the Mac OS X.  Another bit with Mac is the Server and the
workstation are slightly different.  So one might ship with a different
version over another.

After that there is stuff like fink which aims at having all the gnu
stuff readily available.

I would imagine from your perspective you are more interested in proving
you code base.  I should really let the other people who are advocating
Mac do the talking.

Having said all of that, I know SSH ships with Mac, and I think the
Berkley DB stuff is there too.
