autoconf hieroglyphics

Hi - can someone who claims to understand the autoconf tests for
Berkeley DB try to fix the script so that it detects the libraries
on linux distirbutions that have it in /usr/lib. It ought to
be a trivial thing, but it doesn't work even with --with-berkeley-db=/usr
and I cannot the refrences to "xyes" ad "xno" in the script.

Any help in patching this would be appreciated by many
