I still haven't been able to compile it on AIX 5.3. I've tried both GCC, as well as VisualAge 7.0.

The errors you are seening, I saw with GCC. Using VA, I've made it to the final stage of the compile, only to run into un-resolved calls, and I haven't been able to figure out which libraries they are from.

I know it's not any help, but If you make progress let me know, and vice-versa...

On a AIX 5.3 (ML1) machine
First configure warns that pthreads is "Present But Cannot Be Compiled"
then I get messages like:

/usr/include/pthread.h:652: error: parse error before '*' token
/usr/include/pthread.h:655: error: parse error before '*' token
/usr/include/pthread.h:658: error: parse error before '*' token
/usr/include/pthread.h:661: error: parse error before '*' token

When I run make.

I don't get many usefull hits when I google for cfengine and aix 5.3.
Is anyone using cfengine on 5.3 out there?
