I had a similar problem.   

I had 
EmailFrom = ( cfengine )

I went to a mail server that would have relayed one of the messages and 
found that the relay server wasn't permitting a relay based on the 
emailfrom.  In my case I had to be specific and put 
EmailFrom = ( cfengine@chartermi.net )

The nice thing is even though it would seem that the messages would come 
as cfengine@chartermi.net, they actually come as cfengine@fqdn.

I then got a lot of messages thereafter.   Something to check for at any 
rate.
