Hi Luke,

Hmmm, I don't have a 'cfexecd.conf' but rather a 'cfagent.conf'. In there I define:

control:

    any::

        smtpserver = ( mymailserver.foo.com )
        sysadm = ( cfengineadmin@foo.com )

Now, I do have the above defined in both 'cfagent.conf' and 'update.conf'. Does that matter? Or should they be in one or the other explicitly?

Question: Are you _sure_ that you are receiving all your emails? Or asked a different way, how would you know if you weren't all the cfengine emails? I don't mean to sound like a smart ass here - but I think the question needs to be asked since I do get a _very_ small percentage of emails since going from 2.1.11 to 2.1.14.

I'm going to setup a test and monitor the network to see if any data is making it out on port 25. That'll atleast point me in one direction to look at.

Correct me if I'm wrong here: any output captured by 'cfexecd' is also stored in /var/cfengine/outputs/<time_stamped_file> - correct?

Regards,

         /\/elson

Yes, mine works too. 2.1.14 from Blastwave and 2.1.14 compiled from source.

Make sure you have a cfexecd.conf file that looks something like this:

control:

  smtpserver     = (mail.yourdomain.com )     # used by cfexecd
  sysadm         = ( admin@yourdomain.com )  # where to mail output

my cfexecd does send email. it's 2.1.14 from blastware.

0,30 * * * * /opt/csw/sbin/cfexecd -F

I had 2.1.13 from sunfreeware, it was not sending any email because it was
dumping core.
check ~root for cores, check maillog (on smtpserver) for email attempts.

Hi Dmitry,

This was originally titled for RH-AS but since upgrading my Solaris from
2.1.11 to 2.1.14 it now also applies.

You are correct in that cfexecd is responsible to sending the email. So
now I'm looking at/into cfexecd just not sure what to look for/at. As I
mentioned earlier, 2.1.11 used to email without any problems so the
configs should be correct for 2.1.14.

Question: Will cfexecd still email if run from cron using '-F'? Or is
it the admin's responsibility to redirect the output and email?
