bug#23490: grub2 hangs by the legacy_configfile command

  I have tried to dd the boot image of the Ultimate Boot CD into a hard 
disk partition and boot it from there by use of these commands:

set root=(hd0,18)
legacy_configfile (hd0,18)/boot/grub/menu.lst

  After showing the message that an old color name is no more supported 
in Grub2 for a while it finally shows the menu of the Ultimate Boot CD.
However then Grub2 hangs and there is no escape except a hard reset. Not 
even the num-lock key works.
