Does it work if you install Emacs outside the "C:\Program Files (x86)"
directory? E.g., C:\emacs, or maybe even D:\emacs (the latter avoids
the system drive, which is being watched by default by Windows).
I only have one drive, unfortunately.o luck.
What other locations didn't work?
C:\emacs, C:\users\brel\documents\emacs,
C:\users\brel\downloads\emacs
I had luck once when unzipping emacs-24.2-bin-i386(1).zip to
C:\users\brel\downloads\emacs-24.2-bin-i386(1)
But I am not able to do it again.
Is it such a problem that it requires an out-of-the-box solution? I
thought that making a shortcut is something every Windows user can do.
Making a shortcut is OK, but in order to use it, you need to change the
properties to
"C:\Program Files (x86)\emacs\bin\emacsclientw.exe" -na runemacs.exe -c ""
