In fact, vanilla (i.e. SUN's) JAVA is able to read jpeg and gif out of
the box. I personally found the JAVA sound API very flexible but
surely not the thing for the quick hack. Someone suggested me sox to
use for quick hacking. However, I guess you want to stay pure JAVA for
easy installing, right?
