I have the same problem with an OpenBSD machine that is not running X --

Hello, Rodrigo!

On some Linux distributions selecting the PC103, PC104 and PC105 keyboards
means that you will use so called "Windows Flag" as a META modifier. If you
want to use PC101 keyboard (and ALT), try to change your XF86Config (usually
XkbModel some where before XkbLayout - but I am not a guru in Xkb
configuration :)

I used a "Flag" for quite a long time :)
