emacs21 color highlighting!

I just finished compiling emacs21 and browsing through the changelog.  I am
pretty new to emacs, but so far I love it, especially with color highlighting
and such.  Anyway, I was hoping someone could give me the magic line(s) to put
in my .emacs file to turn on color highlighting by default.
