faces / background

Hi,

I have found on several (but not all) installations of emacs on Linux
boxes the following problem with text highlighting.

If I set my background colour to something other than default [I normally
use

(setq default-frame-alist
      '((cursor-color . "black")
      (foreground-color . "black")
      (background-color . "Wheat")
      ))

] then I find that sometimes the background around the highlighted
characters is set to the default, not the one I asked for. The
non-highlighted characters have the correct background. I have been unable
to find any way of changing this, and other people have had the same
problem.

What is the fix?

Cheers,

Andrew
