line numbers in buffers

Hello,
Is there anyway, where I can display the consecutive
line numbers on the left side of the buffer.

Like eg. below,
1 #include <stdio.h>
2 #include <iostream.h>

The option I am asking for is similar to the one
of "set nu" in vi.
