setting font

Dear All,

Currently, when I start Emacs (21.1.1) it comes up with a font that I
don't like.  So, everytime, I press the Shift+[mouse-button-1] and
choose

misc->9x15

I would like to know how to set this up in the .emacs file.

Also what other fonts can I download?
