italian customization?

When I upgrade my emacs to 21.2-18 I have this error message:
"Could not open file" "iso-syntax "
Some line useful in my .emacs file:
 (standard-display-european t)

        (set-input-mode nil nil 1)
        (require 'iso-syntax)

        (load-file "iso-insert.el")
        (define-key global-map [?\C-.] 8859-1-map)

If I remove this stuff the aspell don't work

Some suggestions?
