I've tried your code with another server and it works.

I've tried with your server, but it does not work:

  Unable to contact server news.freeserve.net: Server closed connection

You can try with another server, "210.221.55.119" for example.
You can find some other news servers searching "free nntp server" with
google or at http://www.newzbot.com.
