My knee-jerk reaction was "why the hell doesn't he use RCS/CVS/whatever" ?
But rather than discourage you to write this, I'll encourage you
to provide a VC backend for it.
It should be pretty easy to get the basics working such that C-x v v
ends up calling `mkback'.
