How to use color mode wiht font lock mode?

Hi,

I downloaded D.E.Knuth's experimental minor mode "color mode" and find
that's useful.

You can find that at:
http://sunburn.stanford.edu/~knuth/programs/color-mode.el

But it can't work when font lock is in action. 

I just what to manually set some color on my file. But I do like my
file syntax hightlighted.

How can I do that with font lock on?
