weird shell in emacs

When i list my directory in the shell of the emacs (M-x shell), i get the
symbols below showed, instead of a good presentation like i did this command in
the bash.

What can i do to get a more understanding shell?

bin/   dev/  home/ 
lost+found/  misc/  net/  proc/
 sbin/     srv/  tmp/  var/
boot/  etc/  lib/   media/      
mnt/   opt/  root/  selinux/ 
sys/  usr/
