OK, we are up to fifteen, with some regular faces not having responded,
which makes me nervous, nor has The Jay Juggernaut been launched.
Perhaps this is because the details have yet to be provided. OK, I just
booked the First Fifteen of US into Sambuca restaurant:

    7PM on Tuesday, Aug 8th, 2006

     http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/7166633/

 Sambuca
20 W 72nd St (south side, betw 8-9 ave, bka Central Park West and Columbus)
 New York, NY 10023
 (212) 787-5656
 (212) 799-9052 (Fax)
 Directions: 1, 9, 2, 3, B, C at 72nd St.

This is between Central Park West and Columbus Ave (8th Ave and 9th
Ave), on the south side of 72nd Street, somewhat closer to CPW than
Columbus. A quite large restaurant (and there are only a couple on that
 side of the block).

This is a family-style (share from big platters) Italian restaurant
accustomed to huge parties. Full bar, crayons for the kiddies. I eat
there a lot, very nice, big place and they say they can stick us in the
back where Michael can be heard. Well, he could be heard on the A-Train
halfway between 59th and 125th... speaking of which:

IF YOU ARE FROM OUT OF TOWN AND TAKE THE A OR D SUBWAY TO 59TH STREET
AND FAIL TO CHANGE TO THE LOCAL C OR B TO CONTINUE UP TO 72ND STREE,
YOUR NEXT STOP WILL BE 125TH STREET. BY THE TIME YOU GET BACK (HOPEFULLY
ON THE LOCAL)... LOOK, JUST DO NOT FORGET TO CHANGE TO THE LOCAL!!!!!!!!!

Ahem. Now we will be fine in any case, but if we make it to twenty (a)
Michael will have a very big head and (b) we have a crack at a private
room (twenty minimum). The Keeper of the Room does not report to work
until Monday at 3PM, so we have until then to hit twenty.

Stragglers! Bars Two thru Three will be:

        http://www.divebarnyc.com/dive75.htm
        P&Gs: NE corner 72nd & Amsterdam (10th) Avenue

For what? In case you forgot:

      1940: Battle of Britain
      1960: Military coup in Laos
1963: The Great Train Robbery, in which 2.5 million pounds are stolen
1974: Richard Nixon resigns as US President, the first to do so
1981: US announce plans to produce the neutron bomb
      1983: Military coup in Guatemala
2006: Michael Naunton describes his work

Hmmm. Bit inauspicious since 1786. Anyway....

Where: Sambuca, West 72nd Street, between Central Park West (8th avenue)
and Columbus (9th avenue), south side
      When: Tuesday, 7PM, August 8th, 2006
Who: Michael "Dog Days" Naunton, presenter
             Barry Wilkes, honored visitor
             The Usual Lisp-NYK Crowd
      Why: Dinner, Drinks, and Talk

What? It ain't Lisp, but it is....Cells! Kinda. Spaketh Michael:

"I'd be happy to present an overview of the code I'm working on...
        It's got a Cells-like dependency engine
It's written in Python (that's almost a Lisp)
It's got possible worlds and time travel.
        It's got a big budget :)
        Handouts would be provided."

Michael is a grand story-teller and we'll be drinking and eating at
the same time and I will be heckling so this should be a riot.

See above for where stragglers can catch up with us for the rest of
 the crawl.

OK, please email me directly with head count if you want in.

 Ken
