emacs xft in Fedora Core 5

Anyone tried installing the xft branch of emacs on FC5? It works on
FC4, but when I do the exact same thing in FC5, it comes back with "No
fonts found"
What I did:
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.savannah.gnu.org:/cvsroot/emacs co
emacs
cd emacs
cvs up -Pd -r XFT_JHD_BRANCH
./configure --with-gtk --with-xft --enable-font-backend
--prefix=$HOME/emacs_xft
make bootstrap
make
make install
Any help appreciated.
