Where do you see that you only have 16 colors? Are you perhaps invoking Emacs as "emacs -nw"? What do you see if you type "M-x colors-display RET"?
The M-x colors-display was not recognised.It doesn't mattter. I was only compiling it so I could tell myself I had achieved something difficult. I have a worked patched copy from that Swedish group who build a windows installer and add an extra customize w32 option to the options menu
