Hi Joel,
do you launch ssh -X from some gtk widget or gtk frontend or from emacs ?
I think the problem come from a bad install of gtk but i don't know what 
correct.
I tried to reinstall gtk but it did nothing.
On u(n)buntu :) on my laptop i have not this error.
