This works for me:

(eval-after-load 'ansi-color
  '(progn
     (setq ansi-color-names-vector ["gray50" "salmon" "palegreen"
                                    "lightgoldenrod" "SkyBlue2"
                                    "plum3" "turquoise" "white"])
     (setq ansi-color-map (ansi-color-make-color-map))))
