I cannot print background colors. The foreground color of the text
prints fine. But the background color of the text never prints.
Since I can, I advise to use the ps-spool functions (same name, with
word "print" substituted with "spool") to print to a buffer
*PostScript* (instead to the printing sub-system) which you then can
save to a regular PostScript file. Either a PostScript viewer (gv and
Ghostscript) or Preview (which converts PS to PDF) might show what
your HP printer can't print. Then it's either a Mac OS X 10.5.2 bug
(10.5.3 update is out) or one in HP printer driver or one you created
when you "installed" the printer in Mac OS X.

BTW, there is a specialised list for Carbon Emacs users:
--~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~
Carbon Emacs User Group

-~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
And another one:

List Archives: http://dir.gmane.org/gmane.emacs.macintosh.osx
which will also serve for the users of Emacs.app, the coming native
GNU Emacs 23.1 implementation.

We have to expect it, otherwise we would be surprised.
