You can either1) Press C-x o to swap to the *completion* buffer, then press C-u C-s for regexp-search forward. From there press enter your regexp. Press C-s to search for the next match, RET twice to open the file.
2) Press RET with no file name to open the directory in dired, and then use C-U C-s as above.
