about init file of emacs

I am using emacs in winxp.

I first install emacs, I note the init file was in application data fold.

But when I uninstall and install second time, I find the init file is .emacs in my main fold.

How to set the init file directory in emacs.

I  note the names of init file in application data fold and my main fold are not same.
