completion: won't complete past hyphen in foo--1--2.txt. Why not? |

Completion -- how far it goes in completion is confusing -- to me, anyway.
Any explanations?
Emacs *info* says nothing about this.
As usual, I'm in *shell*, and trying to complete on an existing
file-name.
