What does the longlines documentation tell about hooks? Do you know
file local variables? Some can be put at the file's beginning as in:
-*- mode: LaTeX; coding: utf-8; -*-
or at its end:
%%% Local Variables:
%%% mode: latex
%%% fill-column: 99999
%%% TeX-master: t
%%% End:
IMO, that of a non-longlines user, the fill-column and mode settings
look very promising.
