syntax-tables

Hi,

can't see any advantage of syntax-tables against a direct use
of regexps or strings.

Maybe that's common sense. Just don't see much movement
around and syntax tables remain heavy in use.

Think getting rid of syntax tables might be a progress
in so far, as the latter are much more complicated to
deal with then regexps, but don't contribute
alternative values.

Any opinions?
