No. Either use an old version of GNU Emacs without doc-view-mode or
delete particular file types from its control:
(setq auto-mode-alist (delete '("\\.\\(?:PDF\\|DVI\\|pdf\\|dvi\\)\
\'" . doc-view-mode) auto-mode-alist))
