For calling help, for instance. "C-h ?" pops up the help buffer
*instantly*. Emacs is slower, but it's just a matter of instants - I
would say half a second - nothing I would criticize it for. I just
felt flabbergasted by the instantaneous response of Edwin.
Startup time is almost equal.
I share your feelings about bloated IDEs. As a matter of fact, with
the processing power of modern PCs, snappy software should be the
norm, but sadly it isn't.
