Turn off auto-indent in perl-mode

How do I turn off auto-indent in perl-mode (as I would like to use my own existing indentation scheme)?

In c-mode I could use C-c C-l to turn of electric mode. But I'm wondering what the equivalent is in perl-mode?

I get the feeling it's to do with perl-mode-map. But I'm not so sure how to go about it.
