Input "o" on the selected buffer's line in the *Buffer List* buffer. This will
open the selected buffer in the "o"ther window – I most often do not have so
many buffers open…
Another option is to C-x o (i.e. other-window) and then make a choice in the
mini-buffer. Typing at least the buffer's first character(s) should enable you
to complete the buffer's name and this buffer will take over the window from
you started to switch to another buffer. Of course you leave out the first
character(s) and press TAB that you can pick an entry from the *completions*
list – which will disappear after.
