tabbar color by file type

Hi,

I am very new to emacs, but have been using tabbar with emacs.

I am able to use the tabbar-buffer-groups-function to group different files
to groups.
I would like to have different font/background color for each group so I
can easily differentiate files.
Any suggestions on how to do this ?
