rectangle-preview is a variable defined in ‘rect.el’.
Its value is t

Documentation:
If non-nil, ‘string-rectangle’ will show an on-the-fly preview.

You can customize this variable.

This variable was introduced, or its default value was changed, in
version 25.1 of Emacs.
