The irritation you're going to feel will likewise be minor. You'll put your own preferences into the init script and forget about the issue by the next day.

    specific change would be for somebody that uses CC-Mode on a regular
    basis.

I think everybody and their dog have already agreed that the short-term effect on existing users who only do C++ would likely be negative, if small.
