That was my whole point of describing it as "expression" rather than
"list": it is really an arbitrary Elisp *expression* whose evaluation
simply returns the list of arguments to pass to the function.

So it doesn't have to look like

    (list ...)

but can be anything else like

    (my-function-to-return-the-list-of-args)

or
    (let* ((x1 e1) (x2 e2) ...) (append e3 e4))
or
    ...
