Without entering into your drama:

Emacs is the advanced, extensible, customizable, self-documenting
editor.

Thus if you want icomplete vertical mode just make your own command:

(defun my-icomplete ()
  (interactive)
  (icomplete-mode 1)
  (icomplete-vertical-mode 1))

Then: M-x my-icomplete
