I am using "\\<\\(cog\\|coun\\|cum\\)" and "\\(ley\\|ily\\|ly\\)\\>" for
matching words with initial letters "cog", "coun" and "cum";
and final letters "ley", "ily", and "ly".
How can I match character sequences that occur medially inside a word, rather
than at the beginning or end?
For instance, I want to match "ple" that occurs medially in a word like
"complementarily".
