Not a very busy mailing list but here was the solution.
rm /etc/libstdc++.la (the la file was still linking to gcc 3.0 stuff, in
addition to haveing my build link against a ton of files over and over and
over again)
Once it was gone I was happy again.
I'd recommend mv over rm it, just incase
