REQUEST:Info on a error definition for gcc

 Hi,
    While compiling a module on Solaris4_5.8 using gcc, i  encountered the
following error :

gcc: cannot specify -o with -c or -S and multiple compilations
 

the invocation script has the following syntax:

./local/bin/gcc -g -ansi -pedantic -fno-writable-strings -I. -I../sun4_5.6
-I../sun4_5.x -I../generic  -DMPFS_ENABLED -DSVR4 -D_SUNPRO_C_5_2_u2.p2
-D_sun4_5p8_SWEPOS2 -fPIC -c test_clnt-sun4_5p8.c -o test_sunrpc_clnt.o


Can you give more details on the reasons for this particular error.
