GNU software does not generally run on DOS/Windows, so what you
actually have is someone else's port of gzip to Windows. It looks
like you happen to have a low-quality port; this problem does not
occur with the original GNU code. It's best to first report problems
in ports to the port maintainers. Then if they determine the the
problem was also present in the original code, they can report it here
or inform you so you can report it.
